Be spirited away by this new musical adaptation of Hans Christian Andersen’s fantastical coming-of-age adventure. Join Gerda on a dangerous and whimsical quest to save her best friend Kai before he is trapped forever in the Snow Queen’s palace. Dare to enter a world where flowers sing, animals talk, and riddles yearn to be solved. With an original pop rock score, alluring ballads, urban steam punk flair, and the enigmatic Snow Queen, you'll soon see this is not your average bedtime story.

Running Time: 2 hours and 5 minutes, plus one intermission.

Kirsten Brandt

Kirsten Brandt (Book/Lyrics)

Kirsten Brandt is an award winning playwright, director, and producer. She is the Associate Artistic Director at San Jose Repertory Theatre, where she directed The Tragical History of Doctor Faustus, Next Fall, Rabbit Hole, Groundswell, and Legacy of Light. She served as the Executive Artistic Director of Sledgehammer Theatre where she directed over a dozen plays and wrote Berzerkergang, Nu, and The Frankenstein Project. Her telematic, multi-site play The Thinning Veil was produced at UCSC. Her adaptation of Ibsen’s The Doll's House (with AC Harvey) premiered at the Old Globe in 2013. Rick Lombardo

Rick Lombardo (Book/Lyrics/Director)

Rick Lombardo is currently the Producing Artistic Director of San Jose Repertory Theatre, the flagship professional theatre of Silicon Valley. He was previously the Producing Artistic director for 13 seasons at New Repertory Theatre in Boston, and in 2009 was awarded the Norton Award for Sustained Excellence. He has won awards for his productions of Sweeney Todd, The Clean House, Ragtime, Waiting For Godot, and A Streetcar Named Desire. His world premiere production of Bill W and Dr. Bob enjoyed an extended run off Broadway at New World Stages in New York. As a writer, hIs successful adaptations for the stage include A Christmas Carol, along with the musicals Scapin and THE SNOW QUEEN.



Haddon Kime

Haddon Kime (Music/Lyrics)

Haddon Kime is a composer, songwriter, and sound designer who currently lives in Atlanta with his wife and 5-year-old daughter. Other original musical adaptations include Scapin, and A Christmas Carol. Off Broadway credits include The Atheist (with Chris Pine), Haymarket, The Blowin of Baile Gall. Regional credits include By The Way, Meet Vera Stark and Managing Maxine for the Alliance Theatre. A Streetcar Named Desire and The Pillowman for New Repertory Theatre, and Richard III for Georgia Shakespeare. Haddon is the winner of the 2004 & 2007 IRNE award for best original music/sound design as well as the recipient of a 2009 TANNE Foundation Award for Artistic Excellence.



Lauren Cipoletti

Lauren Cipoletti (Rose/Princess/Robber Girl)

Lauren Cipoletti is a recent graduate of the Columbia University MFA acting program. Recent credits include A Streetcar Named Desire at Columbia Stages, Macbeth at Classic Stage Company, and Henry IV Part I with Extant Arts. She is excited to be in her very first NYMF production in NYC! Enjoy!



Janice Isabelle Engelgau

Janice Engelgau is delighted to be making her New York City debut! Ms. Engelgau’s recent credits include THE SNOW QUEEN (San Jose Repertory Theatre), THE SNOW QUEEN (Workshop) (San Jose Repertory Theatre), La Cage Aux Folles (Cabrillo Stage), A Chorus Line (Pacific Coast Repertory Theatre), The Laramie Project (SPOTLITE Stage Company), The Laramie Project: 10 Years Later (SPOTLITE Stage Company), The Drowsy Chaperone (Montgomery Theatre), and West Side Story (West Valley Light Opera). Summer C. Latimer

Summer C. Latimer (Flower/Ensemble)

Summer recently made her professional theater debut with the outstanding cast and crew of THE SNOW QUEEN at San Jose Repertory Theatre. She is a graduate of San Jose State University where she studied under renowned character tenor Joseph Frank. Credits also include: Grandmother/Lady Crow/Robber Mother (THE SNOW QUEEN Workshop), The Queen of the Night (The Magic Flute), Jeanie (Hair), Cinderella/Cinderella’s Mother (Into The Woods), Hodel (Fiddler on the Roof), Gretel (Hansel und Gretel), and Lena in the world premiere of The Three Fat Women of Antibes by Mona Lyn Reese. Additional appearances include The Music Man, Oliver!, Jesus Christ Superstar, Beauty and the Beast, and Sweeny Todd. Eryn Murman

Eryn Murman (Gerda)

Is honored to continue Gerda’s journey with THE SNOW QUEEN following the World Premiere at San Jose Rep. Eryn was part of the Tony winning musical cast of Spring Awakening on Broadway and San Jose Rep’s production directed by Rick Lombardo and choreographed by Sonya Tayeh. This winter, she workshopped a new musical, Hitting The Ground, inspired by the music of The Violent Femmes. Other recent new-works include: Iphigenia in Iphigenia at Aulis, Factory Theatre, Toronto; Gravity Radio, Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM); Standby, a new musical, Signature Theatre; and Canon in D Minor, Soho Rep, NYC. www.erynmurman.com. Jane Pfitsch

Jane Pfitsch can currently be seen as Rosie in the award winning revival of Cabaret starring Alan Cumming and Michelle Williams. Off-Broadway and regional credits include: THE SNOW QUEEN at San Jose Rep (World Premiere), Educating Rita at Huntington Theater Company (IRNE Nomination), Merrily We Roll Along at Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park, Ten Cents a Dance at Williamstown Theatre Festival and McCarter Theater Center, The 39 Steps at New World Stages, Man of La Mancha and The Liar at The Shakespeare Theatre of NJ, and Pumpgirl at Manhattan Theatre Club. John Michael Presney

John Michael Presney (Kai)

John Michael Presney is a singer, songwriter, guitarist, and actor originally from the heart of Illinois. He recently returned from touring the world with his guitar as part of the First National Company of the Broadway hit, Million Dollar Quartet, where he portrayed the iconic Carl Perkins. Reggie D. White

Reggie D. White (Troll/Reindeer)

Reggie D. White was previously seen in NY at La Mama E.T.C. in Erik Ehn's Soulographie cycle, and has performed across the San Francisco Bay Area with San Jose Rep, Marin Theatre Company, Berkeley Rep, TheatreWorks, Crowded Fire Theatre Company, Lorraine Hansberry Theatre, InterSection for the Arts, The San Francisco Mime Troupe, and others. He will next be seen at Berkeley Rep in Party People by hip-hop group, Universes, this fall. Reggie also is a Theatre Bay Area TITAN Award winner, and the current recipient of the 2014 RHE Foundation's Artistic Fellowship. He is also the head editor of the blog Reg in the City (www.RegInTheCity.com) and co-host of the weekly comedy podcast What's The Tea.



Frances Nelson McSherry (Costume Design)

Frances Nelson McSherry is delighted to collaborate once more with Rick, Kirsten, and Haddon on THE SNOW QUEEN. At San Jose Rep, in addition to the world premiere of THE SNOW QUEEN, she designed costumes for A Christmas Carol and Black Pearl Sings!, which received a Bay Area Theatre Critics Circle Award nomination for costume design. She has worked extensively with Rick Lombardo, designing more than 20 productions with him at New Repertory Theatre in Watertown, MA. She has also designed for New York City Opera, Opera Theatre of Saint Louis, Glimmerglass Opera, and Lyric Stage Company. Ms. McSherry currently teaches theatre design at Northeastern University in Boston, MA. She is a member of United Scenic Artists, Local 829.



David Lee Cuthbert (Lighting Design/Projection Design)

A frequent collaborator at San Jose Rep, he designed lighting & media for Next to Normal, Love in American Times, Legacy of Light, and Spring Awakening and designed scenery & media for Secret Order, As You Like It, and lighting for The Dresser, Rabbit Hole, Putnam County Spelling Bee, Groundswell, and The Kite Runner (for which he received a Bay Area Theatre Critics Circle Award). As a Resident Artist at Sledgehammer Theater, he desiged scenery, media and lighting for many productions, including lighting A Knife in the Heart, winning the Craig Noel award for outstanding lighting design. He lit Billy Crystal’s Tony Award winning 700 Sundays on Broadway and internationally. His work has been seen at La Jolla Playhouse, The Old Globe, San Diego Repertory, Opera San Jose, Arena Stage, South Coast Repertory, Intiman Theatre, American Repertory Theater, and Arizona Theatre Company. He is the theater arts department chair and a professor of design at the University of California, Santa Cruz.
