‘MAX AND THE TRUFFLE PIG: A CULINARY TALE OF LONGING AND ADVENTURE’ (Monday and Wednesday) If the idea of a pig in a culinary tale makes you nervous, don’t worry: Suzette, the pig, is not on anyone’s menu. But she is sent on a forest quest with Max, a boy, to find the elusive truffle for Max’s father, a chef. Adapted from the 1963 book by Judith Gwyn Brown, this show, by Suzanne Bradbeer, Nancy Leeds and Bert Draesel, is the only children’s production in the New York Musical Theater Festival. (Through Sept. 23.) Monday at 8 p.m., Wednesday at 4:30 p.m., the 45th Street Theater, 354 West 45th Street, Clinton, (212) 352-3101, nymf.org; $20.
